1 Purpose
Kirinyaga Young Professionals exists to empower young people through mentorship, innovation, leadership, career opportunities and recognition. All our programs are guided by fairness, inclusivity, and respect for every participant.
2 Eligibility
Participation in KYP programs, membership and awards is open to young people from Kirinyaga County and beyond who meet the criteria outlined for each category or activity. You must be at least 18 years old, or have the consent of a parent or guardian, to register a membership or an account. Certain programs may have additional age limits or requirements which will be clearly stated in their respective calls for application.
3 Account Registration
The KYP portal offers two kinds of accounts: a general professional-network profile, and a paid annual KYP Membership (with its own membership number, e.g. KYP-2026-00001). When you register, you must provide accurate, current and complete information, including your full name, contact details and National ID number where required. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity that occurs under your account.
4 Membership Fees & Payment Terms
KYP Membership requires payment of a one-time Ksh500 registration fee, followed by an annual membership fee of Ksh1000 due every 12 months from your original registration date (not a fixed calendar year).
- All payments are made independently by you via M-Pesa Paybill 522522, Account Number 8022319. KYP does not process card or mobile-money transactions directly — you pay through your own M-Pesa menu and then submit the resulting transaction confirmation code on the portal.
- Every payment is verified manually by a KYP administrator, typically within 24 hours. Your registration or renewal only takes effect once verified.
- If a submitted M-Pesa code is invalid, for the wrong amount, or already used by another member, the payment will be rejected with a reason, and you will need to resubmit a correct code.
- Membership and registration fees are non-refundable once verified, except where required by law.
- If your annual fee is not renewed before your membership expiry date, your membership status automatically becomes inactive until you renew; your membership number and registration record are retained.
5 Applications & Submissions
All applications, nominations, job postings, business idea submissions, or other content you submit must be original and truthful. Any false information or plagiarism may lead to disqualification or account suspension. Once submitted, entries become part of KYP records and may be used for publicity or documentation purposes.
6 Selection & Judging
Judging panels are made up of professionals with relevant expertise. Decisions of judges and the organizing committee are final. KYP upholds transparency and integrity throughout every selection process.
7 Code of Conduct
Participants are expected to act with respect and professionalism at all times. Discrimination, harassment, or misconduct of any form will not be tolerated and may lead to removal from programs, suspension of your account, or disqualification from awards.
8 Media Use & Intellectual Property
By participating in any KYP event or program, you grant KYP permission to use your photos, videos, or stories for reports, social media, or other communication that promotes youth empowerment. Content you own (such as business ideas or portfolio material) remains yours; you grant KYP a non-exclusive license to display it on the portal for the purposes you submitted it for.
9 Third-Party Services
Some KYP features rely on third-party services to operate:
- The AI Resume & ATS Analyzer sends the text of resumes you upload to Google's Gemini AI service for analysis. If that service is unavailable, KYP falls back to an offline scoring tool built into the portal.
- Job listings may be automatically imported from external job boards such as BrighterMonday and MyJobMag; KYP is not responsible for the accuracy of externally sourced listings.
- M-Pesa payments are processed entirely by Safaricom; KYP never receives your M-Pesa PIN or direct access to your mobile money account.
10 Account Security & Termination
You must notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized use of your account. KYP may suspend or terminate any account that violates these terms, provides false information, or is used for fraudulent M-Pesa code submissions (including reuse of another member's transaction code).
11 Liability & Disclaimer
While we do our best to ensure smooth operations, KYP is not responsible for any loss, damage, delay, or injury that may occur during participation in our programs, events, or use of the portal, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
12 Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Any disputes arising from your use of the KYP portal or membership shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation with KYP, and where unresolved, shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
13 Changes to These Terms
KYP reserves the right to update these terms whenever necessary to improve fairness or reflect changes in our programs or membership system. Material changes will be communicated through official KYP channels, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision.
14 Acceptance
By creating an account, registering for KYP membership, or participating in any KYP initiative, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions and to our Privacy Policy.
